Sunday afternoon needs some rite

To mark impending weekend’s end,

The return to weekday commonplace.

Caught twixt liberty and duty—

Loving one, yet resigned the other to embrace—

I seek a ceremony that concludes vacation and lets me comprehend

Some good in coming Monday’s daylight.

The birth of July...

"July is the seventh month of the year according to the Gregorian calendar. It was the fifth month in the early calendar of the ancient Romans. The Romans called the month Quintilius, which means fifth. A Roman Senate renamed the month to Julius (July) in honour of Julius Caesar, who was born on 12 July. The Anglo-Saxon names for the month included Heymonath or Maed monath, referring respectively to haymaking and the flowering of meadows."

Tis the month of celebration...a month of birth...the birth of our nation on the 4th and the birth of me on the 30th. What a wonderful way to celebrate the beginning and end of a month!

And June slips off into summer's sweet slumber...

Fare thee well gentle June! You've been a pleasant month, promising a mild summer here at Ravenlost's Realm. I wonder, what will July bring? Hot sweltering days with scare breeze to cool a hot brow?

Time will tell and we can only hope that Mother Nature will be kind...
